Dear Parents/guardians

The final term of this year has arrived and it is going to be a busy one. As with all the other terms this one has a special focus which is science. As you are aware, the whole school went on a trip to different country parks. This visit will be the basis for the work completed in term 6 entitled

A walk on the wild side

As mentioned above, there will be a strong science focus and the children have already began their learning about animals and habitats. There will also be a focus on famous people and we have already begun work on Charles Darwin. The other people we will be focussed on will be:

  • Roger Banister - athlete
  • George Stephenson - inventor
  • Vaughn - Williams - composer
  • Scott - explorer

As you are aware the children have been asked to bring in a shoe box that they will be using to build a habitat in. If your child has not yet brought theirs in, please send one in as soon as possible, they will be used next week and in future weeks.

As well as all this learning, there are a number of other events going on. The year 5/6 production ‘We'll meet again' will be taking place in the last week of term on the Monday and Tuesday - practices already in full swing. Children need their scripts in school daily. On Friday 16th July is the year 6 leavers' day which includes the leavers' party in the evening. The Theme for this year is 1960s 1970s. As in the past, there will be a cost for a ticket which will include a ticket for the draw where children all go into a lucky dip and could win the opportunity of being picked up and escorted to the party in a sports car. Thanks to Lipscome for this! There will be further details nearer the time.

As we move into summer and the weather gets warmer, it is very important that the children stay hydrated during the day. Please remind your child to bring their water bottles into school filled up so that they have easy access to a drink during class time.

Yours sincerely,
