Our Work
Term 1:
Coming soon: Watch this space for examples of our work from the new term. Meanwhile, have a look below at some of the topics we covered previously.
Term 6
Turtle class have been looking at grouping, or classifying organisms. We have investigated how animals are grouped into vertebrates and invertebrates, and how these groups are then further sub-divided into other groups. We have created a display entitled "What am I?" in which we have given statements which act as clues to the animal that is hidden underneath it. You can see a picture of it here, but why not take up the challenge yourself to see if you can guess the animal when you come into school on our open day on July 7th?
We have also been working hard on our targets in literacy and maths and we have a display board to remind us of our individual targets for the term. On this board we have a series of pieces of work to show how our learning has progressed toward our targets. You will be happy to hear that our arrows are homing-in on the bulls eye!
Term 5
Turtle class have been looking at The Victorians in term 5. The children have written Victorian estate agent adverts to sell a typical Victorian house. Click on a name below to see some of their work.
They have also done some research on particular aspects of Victorian life. They were able to use this information to produce a poster about their chosen topic, which they then presented to the rest of the class. Here are some photos showing some of their posters on display in the classroom.
Inspired by The Great Exhibition, we created our own modern day inventions. Click and have a look!
Here is a photo of another display area in the classroom, showing some of the fact sheets, posters, or booklets produced by the children for their homework over the Easter holidays. This supports the Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) curriculum, for which part of their studies involve Intercultural Understanding.
Term 4:
We have been looking at the human body in our topic ‘Body Rock'. We explored the different functions of the internal organs. Read our poems to find out what we have learnt. (Click to view):

Lowry Pictures: At the beginning of this term we finished our perspective pictures based on the Lowry pictures we looked at in Term 3. We spent a long time on our paintings as we started with line drawings of one row of houses on one side of the street then we had to draw the other side, lastly we drew a building at the end of the street (the focal point). After completing the line drawings we painted our pictures with water colours, step by step. (Hover your mouse over the pictures to see who painted them).
This term our topic is called Body Rock. We have been practising our production, called ‘Body Rock', which is all about a trip inside our bodies and visiting all the major organs. We made these lift the flap bodies to show what it looks like inside and where all the major organs are.
